Your Questions
Answered:

Does HERO hurt?

The level of discomfort from HERO varies from person to person, however it is typically minimal to none at all. You can expect anything from a warm feeling to a sensation like the snap of a rubber band on your skin. The good news is that HERO treatments only last a few minutes, so any feelings of discomfort subside quickly.

How long is the HERO procedure?

HERO stands for ‘high energy, rapid output’, with a handpiece that fires repeatedly instead of stamping, making passes over the skin continuous and easy. The treatment itself lasts only minutes with no social downtime required.

When will I see results from HERO?

Most patients see results in 2-4 weeks; however, this will depend on the individual and the area being treated. It is important that you wear a physical sunscreen and limit your sun exposure 2 weeks before and after your treatment. Patients can see results from a single treatment. However, the number of treatments will depend on the severity of your pigmentation. A typical patient requires two to four treatments.

How often should I come in for a HERO treatment?

The number of HERO treatment sessions you will need will vary depending on the area of concern.

How much downtime is there post-treatment?

After your HERO appointment, you can expect to return to regular social activities immediately. You may have slight redness and swelling for a day or two, but this is entirely normal and will dissipate quickly.

We can’t wait for you to visit North Medical Spa! In order to make sure you are fully prepared for your treatment please take a moment to review this “need to know info” below. We want to ensure that you are fully prepared for your treatment and that you receive the very best results.

BEFORE YOUR BBL HERO™ TREATMENT:

Avoid blood-thinning medication (e.g. Aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.) to minimize the risk of swelling.

It is important that your skin is not tanned. Avoid direct sunlight or tanning beds for 4 to 6 weeks before (and after) each session.

Do not use a sunless tanner for at least 2 weeks before treatment.

For at least 1 week before treatment avoid waxing, chemical peels, and products containing retinol, salicylic acid, or glycolic acid.

Talk to your doctor to make sure it is safe to stop taking any prescribed medications that cause photosensitivity (extreme sensitivity to UV light).

If you have frequent cold sores or fever blisters, it is recommended to take an antiviral for at least 5 days before your treatment as laser light (like sunlight) may cause a cold sore or fever blister.
